Blazers Win First GNAC Appearance Against Rivier

Nashua, NH – The Elms Blazers women's soccer team won their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) appearance against Rivier University this afternoon 4-0.

THE BASICS:

RECORDS: Elms (1-1-0) | Rivier (0-1-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Raiders were able to hold the Blazers potent offense to just one through the first half. Elms' first goal came at 39:19 into the first half by Abby Goodnow (Chesterfield, MA) when she was dragged down inside the 18 and awarded a penalty kick. After lining up, Goodnow was able to beat the Rivier keeper low and to the right.  

Elms extended their lead in the second half with three more scores by Elaina Vilar (Watertown, CT), Caroline Wilcox (Pomfret Center, CT), and a second goal from Goodnow.

 INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Kelly Malherio, Elaina Vilar, Abby Goodnow, Amaya Olivero, Caroline Wilcox, Taylor Floser, Kayla Pasquel and Morgan Foucault all saw shots today, totaling 12 shots total.

- Angela Picheo finished the day with two saves.

UP NEXT:

- The Blazers are back on the road again this weekend, continuing their conference play Sunday 9/5 against Albertus Magnus College for a 12PM start.
