CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team hosted Lasell University in the First Round of the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament Thursday night on Leary Field.

Score: Elms College 8 | Lasell University 9
Records: Blazers 5-8, 5-6 (GNAC) | Lasers 8-9, 3-8 (GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lasell put a ton of pressure on the Blazers early, firing multiple shots on goal. The Lasers scored the first two goals of the game and absolutely controlled the first quarter, limiting the Blazers offensive touches. First-year Rachel Dort (Chicopee, MA) put the Blazers on the board early in the second quarter and junior Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME) scored a goal that was assisted by Dort to tie the game at 2-2 at halftime. Elms came out of halftime in command, as senior Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) and Frankwicz scored two more goals to put Elms up. Lasell countered with two goals of their own to tie again, but sophomore Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY) took matters into her own hands by scoring to give Elms the lead entering the final quarter. Dort followed this up by scoring two goals, one of which was assisted by Cronin to give the Blazers a convincing three goal lead to start the fourth. Lasell came storming back, but Paier kept the Lasers at bay, scoring another goal to keep Elms' two goal lead intact. However, Lasell broke through in the final moments to tie, sending the game into overtime. Both teams fought hard, wanting to be the first to score, but ultimately Lasell scored with seconds left, ending the Blazers season with a 9-8 loss.
