Women's Lacrosse Beat Dean for Big Road GNAC Victory

FRANKLIN, MA - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Dean College in conference action Saturday afternoon.

Records: Blazers 2-2, 2-1 (GNAC) | Bulldogs 1-7, 0-4 (GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dean would start the game with two goals, but Elms would respond with back-to-back goals by senior Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) to tie up the game 2-2. The Bulldogs would respond quickly later taking the lead, but the Blazers would see an additional two goals from first-year Marissa LaRocque (Agawam, MA) and Paier to bring the score to 3-2. Dean would close out the opening quarter with a goal to tie the game. The second quarter would start with a third Paier goal, but then the Bulldogs would score a pair of goals to take the lead. Moments later sophomore Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY) would score her first goal of the contest and then she would find an open Paier to score her fifth goal of the half to take back the lead. But Dean would respond shortly thereafter with a goal to tie the game once again going into the halftime break.

The Blazers would come out of the gate with a goal from first-year Rachel Dort (Chicopee, MA), but the Bulldogs would score a goal seconds later. From then on, the game would be in favor of Elms. Junior Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME), Cronin, and Dort would score a combined five goals to secure the road conference victory for the Blazers, 13-9.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Paier would lead both teams, scoring five goals with three ground balls.

• Cronin would record five assists, three ground balls, and scored three goals.

• Senior Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) would stop 14 shots in the contest.

UP NEXT: The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team will host Norwich in conference action on Tuesday, April 3rd at 7 PM at Leary Field.
