Women's Lacrosse Falls to Salve Regina in Season Opener

MIDDLETOWN, RI - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Salve Regina University for their 2024 season opener in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Salve Regina would start the matchup with six unanswered goals with three being from free-position shots. The Seahawks would carry their momentum into the second quarter, extending their lead to 0-7. But moments later, Elms sophomore Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY) would score the Blazers only goal of the contest. Salve would regain their offensive prowess adding five goals before the halftime break.

The Seahawks would come out the break adding three more goals in the third quarter and an additional three in the fourth quarter. Salve Regina would defeat Elms 1-18. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Cronin led the Blazers with a down goal and two shots on goal with a 100% shots on goal percentage.

  • Junior Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME) would also have a 100% shots on goal percentage with four shots on goal and a ground ball.

  • Senior Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) would lead both sides in ground balls, recording three.

  • Senior Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) would add nine saves to her career totals after seeing 27 shots.

UP NEXT: The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 6, as they travel to UMass Boston with a 12 PM start.
