HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers turn out another victory on the road against the Rivier Raiders Saturday night, the final score being 16-13.

Although the Blazers maintained the lead throughout the game the Raiders did not let up making this one a dog fight until the very end. The Blazers were able to come on top with the seven goals netted by Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA).  Paier wasn't the only one lighting it up on the offensive front, Senior Captain Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) swept up the stat sheet with four Goals, four Assists, nine Ground Balls, and five Draw Controls.  Pikul also came up with her 100th Career Goal last night late in the fourth quarter. Pikul made history now being named as one of nine stdent athletes to record 100 career goals for women's lacrosse here at Elms College.

Taylor Borla (Southington, CT) also contributed to the Blazers action with three Goals and eight Draw Controls.

Defensively the Blazers cleaned it up with 29 Ground balls and 7 caused turnovers on the night.  The cage was held by 2x GNAC Goalie of the Week Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA).  Liquori played the entire 60 minutes and saved 10 out of the 23 shots the Raiders had to offer.  The junior goalkeeper recorded 80% success rate with her clears in the night. Liquori wasn't the only one keeping the defense locked down, first Year Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY) was a top tier defender on the night with three caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Overall the Blazers made their trip up to Nashua worthwhile with an all around team victory.  Although not everyone appears on the stat sheet, everyone contributed for the full 60 making it possible for the Blazers to return to Chicopee with the win.
