HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers seized the night and had no problem playing down against the Anna Maria AMCATS Wednesday night as they ran away with a win of 19-7.

Although the game seemed to be back and forth in the first quarter the Blazers came out hungry for the rest of the game and it showed.  Seniors Taylor Borla (Southington, CT) and Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA)  lead the attack with 5 goals each and a combined shooting of 81%.  Borla wasn't just a break away shooter that night on Caparso Field, she also came up with 9 Draw Controls to give the Blazers the offensive chances needed to maintain the lead.

Borla and Pikul weren't the only two on fire that night.  First year Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY) and Junior Captain Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) both dropped in 5 goals and 6 ground balls each, cleaning it up on both the attack and defensive ends.

The defense for the Blazers was locked down and led by none other than Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA), who was named GNAC Goalie of the Week this past Monday.  Liquori held down the fort with a 74% save percentage on the night.  As a team defensively the Blazers cleaned it up with 31 ground balls and 7 caused turnovers.

The AMCATS were left astray with the composure the Blazers were able to maintain for the full 60 minutes and were unable to dig themselves out of the lead the Blazers fought for on Caparso Field last night.
