Four Goals From Pikul in GNAC Match Up Against Cadets

NORTHFIELD, VT - After a hard fought battle against the Norwich University Cadets, the Elms College Women's Lacrosse Team came up short 14-11 for the final.

How it Happened

The Norwich Cadets opened up Wednesday nights contest with a 7-0 quarter against the Blazers, with three goals from A. Merck who ended the game with a total of five goals. Blazers' Anna- Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) and Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME) both recorded a hat trick in the second quarter to make a seven point comeback against the Cadets to end the first half trailing 9-7.

In the crease Gianna Liquori recorded 15 saves and faced a total of 29 shots on goal for a save percentage of 52%. Liquori was able to successfully release 12 clears to her teammates, over the Cadets 9 in the conference match up.

Taylor Borla (Southington, CT) fired the only two goals for the Blazers in the third quarter, the first goal just two minutes into the half assisted by Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) (9-8). Followed by her second goal with just three minutes to go in the third off a free position shot, the score heading into the fourth 12-9 led by the Cadets.

Unable to come back in the second half the Blazers fought till the end, with two final unassisted goals from Pikul and Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY)to end the game just short 14-11.
