Blazers Fall in Conference Play Against Chargers

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Colby Sawyer Chargers on Leary Field for a Conference match on Saturday, falling to a final of 18-10.

How it Happened

The Blazers went back and forth for a long 60 minutes against the Colby-Sawyer Chargers, who ended up taking a marginal lead in the second half. The game opened up with a goal from senior Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) who recorded 2 goals and an assist for the Blazers.  

On the defensive side, the Blazers were able to come up with 27 ground balls, of which Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) led the Blazers with 4 ground balls of her own in the crease.  Liquori held her own in the net with a save percentage of 44.8% in three quarters of play. Kathrine Ingrahm stepped into the net for the Blazers in the final quarter, recording 15 minutes of play against the Chargers.

Offensively the Blazers had two hat tricks from sophomore Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME) and junior captain Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA).  Both Frankwicz and Paier gave the team the energy they needed to keep the Blazers in the game.

Unable to come back in the second half the Blazers fought till the end, falling to the Chargers 18-10 on Leary Field Saturday afternoon.
