Lightning Strikes Down On Leary Field In 18-4 Victory Over Anchorwoman

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team secured their first season win against the Rhode Island College Anchorwoman, 18-4 for the final.

How it Happened

The Blazers opened up the non conference match fire off thirteen shots hitting the back of the cage nine times in just the first 15 minutes of play. Senior Taylor Borla (Southington, CT) recorded four of the nine BLazers goals to help surge to a 9-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) and Borla both led with 5 goals apiece for the lightning. Pikul filled the stat sheet adding 3 assists, 4 groundballs, 3 draw controls and went 5/6 from shots. 

The Rhode Island College Anchorwoman were able to sneak in a point in every quarter, with two from S. Pires.

Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) split time in the net with Katherine Ingram with both Goalkeepers registering 30 minutes of time in the crease. Liquori would attain the Blazers win for the non conference match, the goalkeeper denied 7 shots from the Anchorwomen and went 7-12 in completed clears.

As a team the Blazers successfully snatched 14 draw controls while the anchorwomen fell short with 10. Elms Women's Lacrosse was quick to pick up a loose ball attaining 31 groundballs as a team withe Junior Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) craddling 7 of them.

The Blazers finish their monday contest securing their first win of the 2023 season.
