WLAX Tames Bulldogs for GNAC Win
FRANKLIN, MA – The Elms College women's lacrosse team hit the road for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup against Dean College yesterday late afternoon, resulting in a 17-14 win.
THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elms 17, Dean 14
RECORDS: Elms (3-0, 2-0 GNAC), Dean (0-4, 0-2 GNAC)
Elms was led by junior Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, Mass.). Pikul registered nine goals and one assist, a career high. Sophomore, Elise Paier (West Springfield, Mass.) added three goals and three assists, while junior captain, Taylor Borla (Southington, Conn.) also notched a hat trick, one assist along with a team best six ground balls.
Senior captain goalie, Emma Walsh (Dracut, Mass.) earned the win for Elms with 14 saves on 4 ground balls.
Elms then took a 9-8 lead at the half after outscoring Dean 7-4 in the second.
In a low scoring third quarter, Elms was able to add on to its lead with a 2-1 margin to go on top 11-9 after 45 minutes.
The Blazers stepped into the fourth quarter notching three goals to take a 14-10 advantage. After a pair from the Bulldogs made it 14-12, the Blazers responded with a pair to retake a 4-goal lead. Elms added an insurance score with less than 30 seconds to play to secure the 17-14 victory.

- Junior, Anna-Elise Pikul led the Blazers on 10 points, tallying 9 goals and 1 assist
- Sophomore, Elise Paier snagged a hatty on 3 goals and 3 assists along with 4 ground balls
- Junior captain, Taylor Borla joined Paier on the hatty squad with 3 goals, 1 assist and a team high of 6 ground balls
- Senior, Elese Ciarcia notched a solid 2 goals
- Senior captain, Emma Walsh posted up 14 saves with 4 ground balls
