How it happened

Fresh off a win, the Blazers looked to make it two in a row against Rivier. Points were at a premium early, as both teams struggled to score early in the first period. Rivier jumped out to an early lead, but contributions by Sadie Hunt and Talia Uribe put the Blazers back in the game. This led to some scoring by other Blazers, and Elms took an 18-17 lead into the second quarter. Uribe continued her strong offensive play, scoring at the rim easily. Rahmia Johnston chipped in some free throws and rebounds, keeping the game tight. Rivier didn't fall under the pressure however, and held Elms in check late in the second half, taking a 43-35 lead into halftime.

A pair of threes by Rahmia Johnston and Julianne Lebow started a Blazers second half run. Sadie Hunt scored a pair of baskets to tie the game late. Hunt played a key role for the Blazers off the bench, providing them with a much needed spark to keep the Blazers in the game. Going into the fourth quarter down 55-53, the Blazers continued to score, with Hunt hitting a three to take a 60-59 lead. Rivier responded by going on a 9-0 run and holding Elms scoreless. Uribe, Johnson, and Lebow continued to score late for Elms, keeping the deficit at 1. However, Rivier continued to outscore Elms late, winning 78-71.
