How it happened
Back in Picknelly Arena, the Blazers took on Mount Holyoke College. The game was close early, as the Lyons continued to take a possession lead each time down the floor. Mt. Holyoke made it tough on the Blazers to score in the first half because of their size. Multiple contributions by different Blazers closed the deficit to 13-10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Elms' Julianna Lebow and Jade Lewis got the scoring started off for the Blazers to tie the game. Rahmia Johnston gave Elms their first lead off a three pointer. The Lyons hung tough, but two late scores by Elms gave the Blazers a 31-27 lead at the half.
At the beginning of the third quarter, the Blazers overwhelmed the Lyons early. Talia Uribe, Lewis, and Lebow all scored quickly, opening the lead to 13. Soliyana Asfaw went on a 6-0 run of her own to extend the lead to 19. Mt. Holyoke started to close the deficit gap, but late baskets by Sophia Andrade and Brianna Metellus gave the Blazers a 56-41 lead at the end of three. The Lyons tried to get back into the game in the fourth, but the Elms defense was too much for them. Even though Elms was outrebounded, the Lyons had trouble scoring against the Blazers pressing and zone defenses. The Lyons cut the deficit to 12 with a couple of minutes left in the fourth, but never got any closer than that, falling 76-58 to the Blazers.
