Women's Basketball Overpowered by Saints

BOSTON, MA - The Blazers were defeated Saturday afternoon by the Emmanuel College Saints where they were unable to come up with the win after a tough battle, final score was 84-39.

How it Happened

The Emmanuel College Saints knocked down 21 points where the Blazers were only able to secure 10 in the first quarter. Both teams crashed the boards registering 16 for the Saints and 13 for the Blazers. Sadie Hunt (Sandwich, MA) was the lone Blazer to cash in a shot from outside the arc for Elms in the quarter. The Blazers went 3-6 from the foul line, going 50% to start the game off. The Saints led 21-10 at the end of the first.

The Blazers were unable to hit double digits in points for the second quarter, Kayla Jackson (Saugus, MA) led the team with 3 points in the second after hitting the only other three pointer in the half. The Saints dominated the board with 14 in total allowing for more second chance opportunities. Emmanuel went 13-21 from the field and knocked down two three pointers for 30 points to help them build a genrous lead over the Blazers. The score is  51-18 at the half.

In the second half Jackson will go on to add 8 more points to the board, two of them were cashed in at the foul line. The Blazers fired up their defense and held the Saints to only 17 points in the third quarter. Despite the hard work on defense by the Blazers Emmanuel was still able to deny any second chance points for Elms as they dominated the defensive boards. The Blazers trail by thirty points at the end of the third, 68-30.

Kayla Jackson was able to finish the game out by scoring 17 points for the Blazers and registering 13 boards. The Blazers were unable to put up more on the board and fell 84-39 for the final against the Emmanuel Saints.
