WESTON, MA - The Elms College Women's Basketball team fell Saturday afternoon to the Regis College Pride, final score 82-71.

How it Happened

The Regis College Pride opened up the first quarter hitting nine field goals and locking in two foul shot points to grant them a first quarter lead of 20 points to the Blazers 12. Elms got to the line six times in the first quarter, allowing them to add four free points to their score, Brianna Metellus (Springfield, MA) went 2-2 from the foul line. The Blazers collected 11 boards, closely behind the Prides 15 in the first 10 minutes of the game.

The Blazer Women went on a 15-8 run to start the second quarter bringing the game to a point differential now with the Pride up 28-27. Elms went 9-10 from the free throw line alone in the second quarter helping them narrow the lead the pride built in the first quarter. The Pride would go on to add 25 points in the second followed by the Blazer 27, heading into the half Regis leads 45-39.

Regis put up 20 more points in the thrid quarter, leading with 12 rebounds and going 1-1 from beyond the arc. The Blazers continue to knock down free throws going 3-3 in the third and hitting 2-4 from outside the arc by Sarah Evangelista (West Haven, CT) and Rhamia Johnston(Trumbull, CT). The Pride lead 65-54.

The Blazers go 50% (3-6) from the three point line and 100% (2-2) from the charity line to cash in a total 17 points in the final quarter. The Pride also follow up with 17 points and lead with 13 boards, two more than the Blazers. The Blazers end the game falling to the Pride 82-71.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Blazers went 85.7% (18-21) from the free throw line 
  • Evangelista cashed in 4-7 three pointers, finishing the game with 12 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds
  • Mikayler Patch (North Attleboro, MA) went 4-4 from the free throw line and had 15 points with 8 boards.
  • Rahmia Johnston went 5-6 from the free throw line and also led the Blazers with 15 points 
  • Kayla Jackson(Saugus, MA), Patch, Metellus recorded 8 rebounds each.
