Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's basketball team pushed its winning streak to four with a 52-45 home win over Johnson and Wales University on Wednesday night at Picknelly Arena.

 THE BASICS:

SCORE: Elms 52, JWU 45

RECORDS: Elms (10-7, 7-7 GNAC), JWU (2-16, 2-10 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Blazers opened up the game on a 13-0 run to take a double-digit advantage in the first quarter and never trailed in the game. 

The Blazers opened up a 12-point lead late in the second quarter, before the visitors cut it to single digits with a three pointer.  Elms responded with a pair of free throws from Mackenzie Huria (Terryville, CT) to close the half, putting the Blazers up 11 at the break.

After the Blazers maintained their twelve point advantage halfway through the third frame, JWU went on a 12-7 run to cut the lead to seven heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, JWU continued to push but 8 points in the final frame from Rahmia Johnston (Trumbull, CT) kept the home side comfortably in front, eventually falling 52-45.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday 2/12 at 2PM when they host River University in GNAC action.
