Women’s Basketball Falls to Pride

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's basketball team lost 74-52, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at the Maguire Center to the visiting Pride of Regis College.

 

THE BASICS:

SCORE: Elms 52, Regis 74

RECORDS: Elms (6-6, 3-6 GNAC), Regis (5-6, 4-1 GNAC) 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms struck first with a quick layup to start off the contest, but Regis answered back with a three-pointer. The teams went back and forth with Elms taking a 9-8 lead. Consecutive layups regained the lead for the Pride, and Regis finished the first quarter ahead, 18-14.

The Pride wasted no time extending their lead in the second quarter, going on a 16-5 run to take a 34-19 lead with 2:19 remaining in the first half. The Blazers were able to battle back, scoring the final four points to end the half trailing 34-23.

In the second half, Regis pushed its advantage, extending the lead to 55-41 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Regis continued to extend their lead eventually taking the game 74-52.

  • McKebzie Huria led the Blazers with 16 points
  • Rahmia Johnston ( pitched in with 12 points
