Blazers Fall to Saints

Chicopee, MA - The Elms College women's basketball team dropped to Emmanuel College this evening, ending 50-84.

THE BASICS:

SCORE: Elms 50, Emmanuel 84

RECORDS: Elms (5-4, 2-4 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

With the score even at 7-7 midway through the first quarter, the Saints broke with a 13-0 run to take a 20-7 lead into the second period. Elms battled with a strong half court defense, looking to Rahmia Johnston carrying with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 defensive rebounds and 1 steal. McKenzie Huria followed close behind with 11 points and 2 rebounds. It was Aiyanalee Lopez who played a stellar game under the hoop with 9 rebounds and 8 defensive rebounds, plus posting up 5 points with 4 assists.

Unfortunatley, it wasn't enough to hold the Saints, as they put the game out of reach in the third with a 29-14 surge.

Elms battled in the final but the visitors managed to still outscore the Blazers 17-15.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

FROM THE DESK OF COACH PROULX:

"I'm proud of how we battled against a tough and seasoned Emmanuel team. Rahmia and Kenz really stepped up offensively and Abi was huge in the second half taking three charges in the post. We are excited to wrap up our semester at home on Thursday against Mount Holyoke."
