HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
First-year Caity Flynn (Colchester, CT) would get the start for Elms for game one, where she pitched four innings, two scoreless with a strikeout. In the bottom of the second inning, the Blazers would complete a double play after a ground ball was hit to senior third baseman Josie Cammarata (Wolcott, CT), threw the runner out at first base, then the runner who had advanced to second base tried to take third, then junior first baseman Danajah Stokes (Savannah, GA) threw the ball back to Cammarata to tag out the runner. Albertus Magnus would get on the board first, after a runner would score off a fielder's choice in the bottom of the third inning. The Falcons would then score two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the inning would end with a fly out to junior centerfielder Sarah Fortini (Florida, MA) and would throw out the runner at second base to first-year second baseman Amanda Raymond (Auburn, ME), but a run would score on the play. In the bottom of the fifth inning, first-year Jill Dykema (Preston, CT) would come into the game to relieve Flynn. During game one, Dykema would pitch two innings and would allow two hits and one hit. The Blazers would get out of the inning with the help of a 6-4-3 double play from senior Kelsey Bennett (Chicopee, MA), Raymond, and Stokes. Albertus Magnus would score one last time in the bottom of the sixth inning and would win game one of the doubleheader 4-0.

Game 2
Game Two would see Dykema retake the mound, where she would pitch three innings, two scoreless, and she would allow five hits and two runs. The Blazers would get on the board first after an error by the right fielder would allow Bennett to score to give Elms an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Then in the bottom half of the inning, the Falcons would take the lead after a two-run single was hit through the left side. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Flynn would retake the mound for the Blazers, where she would also throw three innings, with one scoreless inning and a strikeout. But Albertus would add three more runs to their lead after a two-run single would be hit down the left field line and the third run would score after an error occurred by the Elms defense. In the top of the fifth inning, Bennett would rip a single to third base and bring home junior Kyla Cook (Tauton, MA) to bring the score to 2-5. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Falcons would add another three runs to their lead. The Blazers would try to rally back into the game in the top of the seventh inning, when Fortini came to bat with the bases load, would hit a single to the shortstop, and drive in Bennett for Elms' third run, but unfortunately this would be the final run of the game, as Albertus would secure the victory and sweep 8-3 in the final regular season game of the 2024 season.
