Softball Swept By Mitchell in Conference Opener

NEW LONDON, CT - The Elms College Softball team traveled to Mitchell College for a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
First-year Kaelyn Zakaitis (Amherst, MA) opened the game for the Blazers, giving up three hits and seven runs over one inning of play. First-year Caity Flynn (Colchester, CT) pitched three innings of relief allowing four hits and four runs in the contest. 

Juniors Katie Cosmos (Wolcott, CT), Kyla Cook (Taunton, MA), and senior Kelsey Bennett (Chicopee, MA) each collected a hit for the Blazers with Mitchell Mariners pitcher Katelyn Lipsky keeping the rest of the Blazers at-bay the entire game. Lipsky surrendered two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. 

Game 2
First-year Jill Dykema (Preston, CT) started on the mound for the Blazers, giving up 13 hits and eight runs over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. 

Flynn led the Blazers offensively with two hits, with first-year Amanda Raymond (Auburn, ME) also getting on base for Elms. 

UP NEXT: The Elms Softball team will host Fisher College in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, April 7th at Cheryl R. Condon Field with start times of 12 & 2 PM.
