HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
First-year Jill Dykma (Preston, CT) would get the call to start game one of the Sunday doubleheader for the Blazers. Unfortunately, the Lynx would take the offensive advantage early scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. In the bottom half of the inning, a passed ball was thrown by the Lesley pitcher, and Elms would take opportunity with first-year Caity Flynn (Colchester, CT) would steal second base and Dykma taking home for the Blazers first run of the game. On the next play, junior Katie Cosmos (Wolcott, CT) would hit a double and drive in Flynn for their second run of the inning. Junior Kyla Cook (Tauton, MA) would then drive in Cosmos with a single and she would score the final run of the inning after first-year Kaelyn Zakaitis (Amherst, MA) ripped a double, bringing the score to 4-5 at the end of the first inning. The teams would both go scoreless in the second inning, then in the third inning, Lesley would add three runs to their lead, but the Blazers would add one run of their own after an RBI single by junior Sarah Fortini (Florida, MA) driving in Zakaitis. The Lynx would then take full advantage offensively scoring an unanswered seven runs to secure the first game, 5-15.

Game 2
Zakaitis would take the mound for the Blazers in game two of the doubleheader, pitching all five innings with two strikeouts and two scoreless innings. Lelsey would again take the early advantage in the second matchup, scoring an unanswered nine runs in the first three innings of play. Then in the bottom of the fourth inning, first-year Amanda Raymond (Auburn ME) would hit a single driving in Flynn. The Elms defense would stop the Lynx offense in the final two innings, holding them scoreless, but Lesley would win the game and secure the sweep on the day with a 1-9 final.
