Raiders Take Two From Blazers

NASHUA, NH - The Elms College Softball Team matched up against the Rivier University under the lights tonight where they fell to the Raiders in a doubleheader sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Raiders began the game recording a run in each the first and second innings, adding a three run inning in the third to jump them to a 5-0 lead. 

In the top of the fourth inning the Blazers were not shy at the plate recording five hits to create some movement on the bases. The Elms nine completed a full bat around, chalking up a six run inning causing a lead change. The Blazers led 6-5 heading into the 5th inning.

Rivier was able to rebuttal the Blazers big fourth inning by adding four more runs to their total and two more in the bottom of the sixth. The Blazers managed to get one more run in, in the top of the sixth to finish the game 11-7.

Courtney Schwark (Port Ewen, NY), Nicole Defeo (Watertown, CT), Jayden Dow (Springfield, MA), and Katie Cosmos (Wolcott, CT) all posted an RBI in game one for the night.

In the pitching lanes for the Blazers was Dow, who threw for the full game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers were able to start the second game off with a two run inning, with an RBI from both Kyla Cook (Taunton, MA) doubled to left field and Josie Cammarata (Wolcott, CT) who would pop up to the second baseman for a sacrifice fly.

The Raiders got a jump on their lead early, sending in five runs in the first inning and adding twelve more in the second. Rivier had two batters back to back send the ball yard, with a two RBI home run from C. Panagioto and a homerun by O. Couto over the left center fence. In the top of the third inning Rivier had a generous lead of 17-2.

Unlike the first game the Blazers were unable to make the same connections with the ball and fell short in runs. 

The Blazers fell in the second game to a final score of 20-2.

The Blazer Softball team will head to Dean College on Saturday, April 29th for a conference doubleheader against the Bulldogs at 12PM & 2PM.
