Cosmos & Schwark Record 3 Hits Apiece in Conference Double Header

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Softball team hosted the Anna Maria AMCATS on Monday night where they fell 10-1 in Game one followed by a 13-2 loss in Game two. Both Courtney Schwark (Port Ewen, NY) and Katie Cosmos (Wolcott, CT) registered 3 hits each for the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Blazers Softball battled against the AMCATS for 6 innings after Anna Maria was able to advance their lead in the top of the sixth with five runs. Ending the game 10-1 in the AMCATS favor.

In the first inning the Blazers were able to bring home one run, starting off with a double to center field from Cosmos sending Nicole Defeo (Watertown, CT) home and advancing Josie Cammarta (Wolcot, CT) to third. both teams sitting 1-1 after the first inning. 

The Anna Maria AMCATS had a three run second inning, jumping them to a lead of 4-1. The score remained 4-1 til the AMCATS were able to sneak in another run in the fifth and five more in the sixth.

Elms recorded three errors in game one against the Anna Maria AMCATS. 

Jayden Dow was in the circle for the Blazers for the first 5 and two thirds inning where she let up 9 hits and 10 runs while striking out 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In game two of the double header the AMCATS made more connection with the ball overpowering the Blazers 13-2 for the final.

Kyla Cook (Taunton, MA) put the Blazers on the board after advancing to home on the throw while simultaniuosly Cammarata stole to second. Both runners were safe at their next destination. Score at the top of the third 3-1. 

In the third inning Cook caught a piece of the ball singling it into the gap to right field advancing Cosmos and sending home Kelsey Bennett (Chicopee, MA) to jump the Blazers to two runs. (10-2)

Anna Maria recorded their runs in the top of the first five innings. The AMCATS recorded a powerful inning in the third chalking up 7 runs to boost them to a 10-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third.  

The Blazers would fall to a final score of 13-2 after the second game of the double header against Anna Maria.
