Blazers drops Double-Header against Albertus Magnus College

NEW HEAVEN, CT. – The Elms College softball team drops their conference doubleheader Tuesday against Albertus Magnus College 3-1 and 10-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game 1: AMC 3, Elms 1

The Elms College Blazers kept the score close, but Albertus Magnus was able to keep their lead. In the first inning, AMC took the lead scoring one run. In the third inning, Josie Cammarata (Wolcutt, CT) hit a single up the middle to bring Courtney Schwark (Kinston, NY) home to tie it up. AMC fired back to regain the lead.

Jayden Dow (Springfield, MA) was in the circle for the Elms College Blazers. Dow managed to strike out one and gave up 10 hits in the seven innings.

Cammarata, Schwark, Fournier, Bennett, and Oliveira all got hits.

Cammarata leads the Blazers in hits totaling three hits out of their four at bats.

Game 2: AMC 10, Elms 0 (5 innings)
 
The Blazers were defeated by AMC in their second game with a score of 10-0 in five innings. AMC earned an early lead scoring two in the first inning. The Blazers were not able to make a comeback in the following innings.
 
Mackenzie Alvarado (Plainville, CT) was on the rubber for the Blazers and struck out two. Alvarado was relieved by Dow to close out the game.
 
Schwark singled to center field to get on base for the Blazers. Schwark went one for two at the plate.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Cammarata, Schwark, Ryanne Fournier (Longmeadow, Mass.), Kelsey Bennett (Chicopee, MA), and Sofie Oliveira (Windsor Locks, Conn.) all got hits in the first game.

-Cammarata racked up 3 hits in the first game.

-Bennett notched one stolen base in game one.

-Schwark went one for two at the plate in game two.
