Blazers Drop Doubleheader to JWU

PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Elms College softball team gets swept by their conference doubleheader Saturday against the Johnson and Wales University 1-11 and 1- 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game 1: JWU 11, Elms 1 (5 Innings)

Elms College Blazers fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-1 loss to Johnson & Wales on Saturday.

The Elms College Blazers struggled to contain the offense of Johnson & Wales, giving up 11 runs. The Blazers got things moving in the first inning and scored one run when Courtney Schwark (Kinston, NY) doubled.

Jayden Dow (Springfield, MA) was in the circle for the Blazers. They lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs while striking out two.

Brandi Johnson (Philmont, NY), Josie Cammarata (Wolcutt, CT), Nicole DeFeo (Watertown, CT), Sofie Oliveira (Windsor Locks, Conn.), and Schwark each collected one hit to lead Elms College Blazers.

 
Game 2: JWU 10, Elms 1 (5 Innings)
 
Elms College Blazers had trouble keeping up with Johnson & Wales in a 10-1 loss.

Mackenzie Alvarado (Plainville, CT) was in the circle for the Blazers. Alvarado allowed 11 hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Oliveira led Elms with two hits in two at bats.
 


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Schwark hit a double in the first game to get an RBI.

- Johnson, Cammarata, DeFeo, Oliveira, and Schwark each collected one hit in game one.

- Oliveira led Elms with hits in the second game while going two for two at the plate.
