Blazers Fall to RIT

Fort Myers, FL – The Elms College Softball team fell to Rochester Institute of Technology Sunday afternoon 9-7 at the Lee County Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Sunday's game against RIT was a heartbreaker for the Blazers, as they lost the lead late in a 9-7 defeat.  The game was tied at seven with RIT batting in the bottom of the sixth when RIT took the lead.
 
Alli Alleano (Vernon, CT) collected four hits in defeat.  Alleano doubled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.
 
The Blazers captured the lead in the second inning.  Alleano drove in one when Alleano singled.
 
Elms College scored three runs in the second inning.  The offensive onslaught by the Blazers was led by Ryanne Fournier (Longmeadow, Mass.), Alleano, and Courtney Schwark (Kinston, NY), who all drove in runs.
 
 
The pitcher for RIT went seven innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits.
 
Jayden Dow (Springfield, MA) was on the mound for the Blazers, letting up nine runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out two.
 
The Blazers collected 12 hits on the day.  Alleano, Katie Cosmos (Walcott, CT), and Schwark each racked up multiple hits for Elms.  Alleano went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Elms College Blazers Varsity in hits.
 


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Alleano went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Elms College Blazers Varsity in hits.

Ryanne Fournier (Longmeadow, Mass.), Alleano, and Courtney Schwark (Kinston, NY), all drove in runs.

- Alleano, Cosmos, and Schwark each racked up multiple hits for Elms.
