Blazers Split Tri Match on Senior Day

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Men's Volleyball team honored their five seniors today during the Conference tri match where they ended the day with a 1-1 split against the Dean College Bulldogs and the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards.

BASICS

How it Happened

The Blazer Men took down the Dean College Bulldogs in three sets, with a close second set of 25-21. Jairam Rodriguez (Cedra, PR) handed out 22 assists against the Bulldogs to help the Blazers serge to the conference victory.

The Blazers finished out the first and final sets recording 13 and 14 kills, while the Bulldogs recorded 7 in the first and 6 kills in the final two sets. Elms finished out the first set with a .393 (PCT) team hitting percentage and followed wth a .265 PCT in the final set. 

In the second set Dean managed to take the lead from the Blazers early after building off of a 12-9 start. After a 3-0 point run by the Blazers they were able to tie up the score 14-14. The Blazers continued to tie up the score at 16's and 18's, but continued to trail behind the bulldogs till 21-19. The lightning was able to get their final rally after a service error by the Bulldogs to help send the Blazers on a 5-0 point run to take the lead 24-21. After a timeout called by Dean College the Blazers were able to step back on the court and record the final service ace of the game from Rodriguez (25-21).

The Elms College Men's Volleyball finished the conference match 3-0 after set scores of 25-14, 25-21, and 25- 16.

How it Happened

The Blazers started off the first set hot recording 6 quick points after a run of 3-0 to leave the Leopards trailing 6-2 early in the set. The Blazers attempted to hold their marginal lead but Wentworth was able to campitalize off of gaps in the Elms defense, securing the first match point 25-18.

The Wentworth Leopards continued their success throughout the second and third set, taking the match by storm, 3-0 with set scores of 25-12 and 25-13.

Klaytin Silva (Worcestor, MA) and Moose Perry (Holyoke, MA) recorded a solo block each for the Blazers. 

Liekde added another match with dig stats in the double digits as he posted an 11 dig game against the Leopards.

Both Perry and JAiram Rodriguez both recorded 6 kills apiece in the match, with Lewis Torres (Vega Baja, PR) adding 10 assists to the Blazers stats.
