Liedke Records 26 Digs in Conference Tri Match

CHICOPEE, MA - Blazers hosted the Regis College Pride and the Emmanuel College Saints in Picknelly Arena on Saturday afternoon for a Conference tri match.

How it Happened

The Blazers fell in three sets to the Regis College Pride with scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-17 on Saturday afternoon. In the second set Elms was able to take the lead late after back to back points bumping the score to 18-17 point differencial. Unable to build up a run to 25 the Blazers would surrender to the Pride.

First year Jairam Rodriguez (Vega Baja, PR) was all over the court during the match recording a double double with 10 kills and 10 digs for the Blazers. Rodriguez finished the match with the second highest hitting percentage of .214, while Cecil Villa () attained a .250 with six kills in the match.

Collin Liedke added 12 more digs to his over stats as he continues to chip away at his own season dig record of 259. The Senior from Newington is currently sitting at 254 after Saturday nights tri match.

Lewis Torres handled the ball well by setting up his teammates for success and recorded 17 assists against the Pride.

How it Happened

The Blazers started off the first set hot recording 7 quick points after a run of 3-0 to leave the Saints trailing 7-2 early in the set. The Blazers attempted to hold their marginal lead but the Saints were able to campitalize off of gaps in the Elms defense. Emmanuel secured the first match point 25-14.

Emmanuel Saints continued their success throughout the second set, taking the second match point after the Blazers fell 25-16.

In the final set the Blazers were able to close the gap to only a three point difference after a service error by Emmmanuel College bringing the score to 19-16. The Blazers were unprosperous as the Saints secured the final match, 25-19.

Moose Perry (Holyoke, MA) and Wendell Padilla () both recorded block assists as they went head to head denying the Saints a point over the net.

Liekde added another match with dig stats in the double digits as he posted a 14 dig game against the Saints.

Villa hammared down 7 kills for the Blazers and Perry recorded 6 both leading for Elms against Emmanuel College.
