Men's Volleyball Drop Pair of Matches in Tri Match

NEW PALTZ, NY- The Elms College Men's Volleyball team was dealt a pair of losses today in their tri match against SUNY New Paltz Hawks (0-3) and the Arcadia University Knights (0-3).

BASICS

Score: Hawks 3 | Blazers 0

Records: Hawls (11-4) | Blazers (1-8, 0-1)

How it Happened

The Blazers kept the first set close after going on a 4-0 point run followed by a 3-0 point run to bring the score to a point difference with the Blazers trailing by one (14-15). The Hawks answered back quick with a 6-0 point run to give them quite the jump of a lead to help them finish out the first set with a win (18-25).

In both the second and third sets the New Paltz Hawks built up an early lead of minimum of five points to help them soar to victories. The Blazers fell in the final two sets 16-23 and 25-11.

  • Moose Perry (Holyoke, MA) finished the match with he highest hitting percentage of .333
  • Lewis Torres (Vega Baja, PR) handed out 7 assists

Records: Knights (10-5, 2-0) | Blazers (1-9, 0-1)

How it Happened

In the first set agains the Knights the Blazers were able to go on multiple runs of more than two to help them stay one step behind Arcadia. The score was tied seven different times throughout the set, with the final tie at 18's after Knights Amadeus Cannon secured a kill. The Blazers would come up short 25-22 in the first set.

The Blazers were unable to keep the final two sets as close as the first falling 13-25 in the second set and 13-25 in the third set.

The Men head to Dean College to challenge the Bulldogs to a conference match up in a tri match with the Emerson Lions on Saturday February 25th at 1PM and 3PM.
