Men's Volleyball Topped by Raiders and Bison in Weekend Tri Match

NASHUA, NH - The Elms College Men fall to both the Rivier University Raiders (0-3) and Nichols College Bison (0-3) on Saturday in Muldoon Gymnasium.

How it Happened

In the first set the Blazers came close to matching up the score with the Raiders bringing the points to only a three point difference on multiple occasions. It wasnt until the Raiders pulled away at 12-16 were they able to start capitalizing on their lead. In the first set the Blazers were able to hammer down 10 kills just short of Riviers 13 kills. The Lightning would fall in the first set 17-25, Rivier gaining the upper hand in the match.

The Raiders grabbed the lead early in the second set, putting up a 0-6 point run making the score 1-8 sending the Blazers into an early timeout. The Raiders had found their groove in the set and were not holding back, they continued with their generous lead 5-18. The Blazers were bale to fire some shots back and slowlypick away at the Raiders lead but were unable to get a consecutive scoring run. The Second set was won by Rivier, 14-25 match 0-2 heading into the third set.

Just like the second the Raiders started the set with a 0-6 run causing the Blazers to reboot in a quick timeout with the score 1-7. Throughout the final set the Blazers were able to get a couple runs against the Raiders but were unable to slow them on their offensive drives. The Blazers would fall in the final set 16-24 for the final.

  • Collin Liedke (Newington, CT) recorded 15 digs against the Raiders
  • Moose Perry (Holyoke, MA) put down 7 kills and handed out 1 block.

How it Happened

The Bison held onto the lead for the playout of the first set. It was an early 9-2 point run that truly sealed the first set victory for the Bison with the Blazers trailing behind 5-16. The Blazers were able to add in a couple more points before the set final of 13-25.

early in the second set the Blazers were able to grab the lead, as the Bison tied up the score on two occasions at an attempt to change the lead. The Lightning were able to lead the set till a final tie up of the score at 9-9. From then on the Bison controlled the set and despite the Blazers efforts to regain the set they fell 19-25.

In the final set the Bison were able to continue their success and build up quite the lead over the Blazers, 7-14. The Lightning never backed down and continued to stump the Bison as they put up multiple runs closing the lead to only a 2 point difference at 14-16. The Bison were able to capitalize off of mishaps on the Blazers side of the net they were able to secure the match win with the final set score of 19-25.
