Blazers Fall to Bison

CHICOPEE, MA: The Elms men's volleyball team fell to Nichols in non-conference play tonight, 0-3.

SCORES: Elms 0 | Nichols 3 (14-25, 17-25, 11-25)

RECORDS: Elms (7-9, 3-3 GNAC) Nichols (8-7, 0-0 NECC)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Blazers saw themselves down early in the first set 6-13. Despite a late ace from Moose Perry at 10-17, the Blazers fell to a 4-8 run from the Bison. Elms dropped the first set 14-25. The second set started slow for the Blazers before an ace from Luis Martinez stopped a Bison service run at 6-16. A string of late kills were able to bring the Blazers within 7 at 14-23. Facing set point, Pedro De Jesus and Axelmanuel Figueroa Acevedo were able to extend the set with an ace and kill respectively. The Blazers fell 17-25 on a Bison kill. The third set started close as the Blazers only trailed by 3 on a kill from De Jesus at 6-9. The Blazers fell to a 5-16 run to drop the set 11-25. Elms lost the match 0-3. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

De Jesus, Martinez, and Carlos Mercado led the Blazers with 5 kills. 

Martinez added 2 aces with De Jesus and Perry adding one a piece. 

De Jesus led the Blazers with 5 digs while Collin Liedke and Martinez added 3 each.

The Blazers are headed to Rivier for GNAC play on Thursday (3/3) for a 7pm start.
