Acevedo's Big Week Yields NECC Rookie Of The Week Honor

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman Martin Acevedo (Carolina, P.R.) earned New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week honors on Monday after leading the Blazers to a pair of conference wins last week.

Acevedo averaged 2.83 kills per set while hitting an astounding .789 for the week. He tallied 17 kills and just two errors on 19 swings to pace the Blazers, who improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in NECC play with the two wins. He also averaged 1.33 digs per set.

This is the first such honor for Acevedo, and the fourth NECC honor for Elms this season. Jeremy Torres earned NECC Player and Rookie of the Week honors in Jan. 29, and Jake Johnson was named the league’s Rookie of the Week on Feb. 5.

The Blazers step out of NECC play on Tuesday when they visit Vassar at 7:00 p.m.
