Men's Volleyball Swept at Regis Tri-Match

WESTON, Mass. – The Elms College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches during a tri-match at Higgins Court on the campus of Regis College Saturday afternoon. The Blazers fell to the host Pride in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contest, 3-1 (12-25, 26-24, 20-25, 18-25), and then lost to Rivier in non-conference action, 3-0 (19-25, 22-25, 14-25). The Blazers slide to 9-6 on the season, and 1-2 in the NECC, while Regis sits at 3-2 in the NECC and 3-8 overall, and Rivier moves to 8-4 on the year.

Against Regis, the Blazers were led offensively by sophomore Daniel Bondarovsky (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) with a match-highs in kills with 14 and digs with seven, along with two blocks. Sophomore Gabriel Reis Levy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) recorded nine kills with three digs and two blocks, while juniors Austin DeCosmo (Southwick, Mass.) and Qua'Sean Crowe (Stamford, Conn.) added five kills apiece. Freshman John Dunphy (Farmington, Conn.) tallied 31 assists with six digs and two kills.

Regis had two players notch double-digit kills totals, paced by a tied match-high 14 kills from junior Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) with five digs and two blocks. Sophomore Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) registered 11 kills, and junior Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) dished out a match-high 41 assists with a tied match-high seven digs, three kills and three blocks.

During the three sets with Rivier, Bondarovsky knocked a team-high nine kills with two blocks, and Reis Levy had eight kills and two blocks. Senior Angel Castro (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added six kills, and Dunphy doled out a match-high 29 assists.

Rivier was led by the duo of junior Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) and sophomore Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.) hammered a match-high 12 kills each. Raiders sophomore Grant Adler (Chicago, Ill.) had six kills, sophomore Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) snared a match-high eight digs, and junior Tyler Blank (Rochester, N.Y.) distributed 22 assists.

The Blazers will return to action with a conference road trip to Daniel Webster College for a 7:00 p.m. match Wednesday night. The Pride travel to Newbury for a conference tilt Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Raiders will compete at the Elmira Invitational next weekend.
