Dunphy Named NECC Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman John Dunphy (Farmington, Conn.) was selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Dunphy helmed the Blazers offense during an undefeated week of play for Elms, including a three-game sweep at the 2016 Keuka College Tournament. Dunphy dished out 24 assists in a sweep of City College of New York, followed by 34 assists and two kills against Keuka. In a five-set victory over Penn State-Behrend, Dunphy notched a career-high 50 assists with four digs and three service aces. Against Purchase, Dunphy tallied 30 assists and three digs.

Dunphy leads the NECC in assists with 255, and ranks third in assists per set (8.55) and service aces per set. Dunphy has added 11 service aces, eight kills and two blocks.

Dunphy and the Blazers will be back in action as Elms travels to Mount Ida for a non-conference contest Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
