Men's Volleyball Unable to Find Rhythm at Keuka Tourney

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Elms College men's volleyball team fell in three matches at the Keuka College Invitational, hosted by Keuka College, at Weed Gymnasium over the weekend.

Friday night, the Blazers opened the tournament with a 3-0 (14-25, 16-25, 14-25) loss against SUNYIT. Freshman outside hitter Gabriel Reis Levy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the Elms attack, posting team-high in kills and digs with eight of each. Sophomore middle hitter Austin DeCosmo (Southwick, Mass.) added five kills, while senior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) dished out a match-high 12 assists.

The Blazers concluded the tournament with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon, beginning with a tilt against host Keuka, where the Blazers fell 3-0 (13-25, 14-25, 9-25). Reis Levy notched six kills with a game-high 10 digs. Welsh had nine assists, freshman opposite Blake Fry (Natick, Mass.) had three kills, and junior middle hitter Cristian Arroyo (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded a game-high three blocks. 

Elms wrapped up tournament play with a 3-0 (23-25, 15-25, 21-25) defeat at the hands of Sage College. Reis Levy racked up a game-high nine kills with five digs and three blocks. Fry registered a season-high eight kills with five digs, while Welsh doled out a game-high 25 assists.

The Blazers moved to 2-8 on the season. Elms opens up their New England Collegiate Conference schedule with a road trip to preseason favorite Endicott College (1-6) Thursday night for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
