Men’s Volleyball Falls to Endicott College, 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) notched a team-high eight kills and team-best six digs, but Endicott College used 12 kills from Brennan Lowe (Malibu, Calif.) and 11 from John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) to help pace the Gulls to a 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-16) sweep of the Blazers in Wednesday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball match at Picknelly Arena.

With the loss, Elms moves to 5-12 on the season, 3-3 in NECC play, while Endicott improves to 11-8 overall, 6-1 in league action.

Endicott setter Tyler Bacon (Cypress, Calif.) propelled the Gulls to a .372 hitting percentage as a unit as Lowe and Osborne combined for 23 of Endicott's 40 kills. Lowe and Osborne each added two service aces, while Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.) floored five kills in the winning effort.

Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.) registered five assisted blocks and Lowe finished with four assisted blocks. Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) added three assisted blocks and Bacon, Osborne and Anderson assisted on two blocks each.

Osborne collected a match-high nine digs and libero Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, Japan) added eight digs.

Elms' junior middle hitter Angel Castro (Carolina, Puerto Rico) finished with four kills and three digs, while senior opposite hitter Kordel Latimer (Lynn, Mass.) downed three kills and recorded four digs.

Senior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) dished out 16 assists and notched three digs, while Latimer added a pair of solo blocks and freshman middle hitter Austin DeCosmo (Tolland, Mass.) finished with two kills in the losing effort.

With Rainey's eight kills he is now 18 kills shy of reaching the 1,000-kill milestone. 

Elms returns to NECC action on Saturday, March 22 when it hosts Lesley University at 1:00 p.m. and Daniel Webster College at 3:30 p.m.
