Men’s Volleyball Falls to Endicott College, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – Elms College junior middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) floored a match-high 13 kills and recorded a match-best 11 digs, but Endicott College received 10 kills from Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) and eight kills each from Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) and Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.) to help spark the Gulls to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-21) sweep in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball match in Beverly, Mass.

With the loss, Elms moves to 4-10 on the season, 2-2 in NECC play, while Endicott improves to 8-3 overall, 4-0 in league action.

Rainey led all hitters with 13 kills, while junior middle hitter Angel Castro (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added six kills and four digs.

Senior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) dished out 23 assists and notched four digs of his own, while freshman libero Ian Isgut (San Juan, Puerto Rico) added four of his own.

Seaver led the Gulls with 10 kills, while Anderson and Netherton added eight kills each as Endicott hit .194 for the contest. Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 30 of the team's 34 assists while Netherton served up three of Endicott's eight aces.

Seaver and Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, Japan) collected six digs each in the winning effort while John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) added four digs.

Trailing 2-0 in the match and 24-19 in the third set, Elms staved off a pair of match points taking advantage of two Gulls' attacking errors, but a kill by Seaver sealed the 25-21 victory for Endicott and clinched the sweep.

Elms is back in action on Tuesday, March 4 at Lasell College at 7:00 p.m. in non-conference action.
