Men’s Volleyball Sweeps by Regis College, 3-0

WESTON, Mass. – Elms College freshman outside hitter Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) smashed a match-high 10 kills to help lift the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-8) victory over Regis College in Monday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball match at Higgins Court in Weston, Mass.

With the win, Elms improves to 12-12 on the season, 5-4 in NECC action, while Regis moves to 1-10 on the season, 1-5 in league play.

Elms' junior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) dished out 21 assists to help propel the Blazers to a .477 overall hitting percentage. Vautrin hit .471, while junior middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) downed six kills and hit .444.

Junior Daniel Lebron (San Juan, Puerto Rico) hit outside and smashed four kills on five swings with no erros to hit .800 for the match, while junior opposite hitter Kordel Latimer (Lynn, Mass.) added four kills.

Freshman outside hitter Aleksandr Kuzmenko (Chicopee, Mass.) chipped in three kills on four swings with no errors (.750) to go along with two solo blocks, and freshman libero Roger Conklin (Chicopee, Mass.) led all diggers with a match-best five digs.

Dan Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) registered a team-best seven kills for Regis, while Angel Aguilar (Silver Springs, Md.) dished out 14 helpers for the Pride. Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) added four kills of his own, while Dave Amicangioli (Belmont, Mass.), Chris Tran (Quincy, Mass.) and Aguilar notched three digs each in the losing effort.

Elms returns to NECC action on Wednesday, March 27 when it hosts Newbury College at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
