Men's Volleyball Roars Past Lesley University, 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Elms College junior outside hitter Kordel Latimer (Lynn, Mass.) smashed a match-high eight kills and the Blazers hit .510 as a team to help spark a 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-6) sweep of Lesley University in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball match in Cambridge, Mass. 

With the win, Elms improves to 11-12 overall, 4-4 in league action while Lesley slips to 0-13 overall, 0-8 in NECC action. 

Elms' junior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) directed the Blazers to a .510 hitting percentage, distributing the offensive production evenly as junior middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) and freshman outside hitter Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) finished with seven kills each behind Latimer's eight.

Latimer and Vautrin each added a match-high eight digs in the win and Welsh served up five aces in addition to his 23 assists. 

Rainey also had six digs, while freshman outside hitter Aleksandr Kuzmenko (Chicopee, Mass.) and freshman libero Roger Conklin (Chicopee, Mass.) floored three kills each in the winning effort. 

Lesley was led by Melvin Morales (Chelsea, Mass.) who downed a team-high seven kills, while Jess Cherry (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with 10 assists. 

Elms is back in NECC action on Monday, March 25 when it travels to Regis College for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with the Pride.
