Men’s Volleyball Suffers 3-2 Setback at Wentworth Institute of Technology

BOSTON, Mass. – The Elms College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-17, 15-10) setback at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Tuesday evening's non-conference men's volleyball match.

With the loss, Elms moves to 8-6 overall, while Wentworth improves to 9-4 overall.

Elms was led by sophomore middle hitter Angel Castro (Carolina, Puerto Rico) and freshman outside hitter Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) who downed 14 kills each, while senior outside hitter Stephen Cameron (Newington, Conn.) and junior middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) totaled 11 and 10 kills respectively to highlight four Blazers who struck for double-digit kills.

Junior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) dished out 47 assists helping Elms tally a .265 hitting percentage. Cameron added seven digs, while Vautrin assisted on four blocks.

Wentworth's Ross Burdett (Needham, Mass.) smashed a match-high 17 kills followed by Sean Donahue (Lincoln, R.I.) with 15 kills and five solo blocks.

Mike Buonincontra (Shelton, Conn.) added 10 kills to round out the Leopards' top attackers. Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.) paced the surge with 42 assists, and Zach Newhouse (Lancaster, Calif.) collected a match-high 14 digs.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, March 2 when it hosts New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Regis College at 5:00 p.m. and Vassar College at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
