Men’s Volleyball Sweeps by Lesley University, 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College freshman outside hitter Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) downed a match-high eight kills, while sophomore middle hitter Nicholas Green (Ware, Mass.) and senior outside hitter Stephen Cameron (Newington, Conn.) added seven kills each as the Blazers posted a 3-0 (25-6, 25-6, 25-3) sweep of Lesley University in Saturday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball match at Picknelly Arena.

With the win, Elms improves to 7-2 on the season, 1-0 in conference play, while Lesley falls to 0-7 overall, 0-2 in league action.

Elms hit .467 for the match as a team and had four players hit above .380 for the match. In addition to his seven kills, Cameron served up five aces and notched a six digs, while junior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) paced the offense with 26 assists, three service aces and six digs.

Green was stellar in the contest, posting a .385 hitting percentage, in addition assisting on three blocks. Junior middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) added six kills, while Vautrin added six digs to go along with his match-high eight kills.

Freshman libero Roger Conklin (Chicopee, Mass.) contributed four digs in the winning effort for the Blazers.

Lelsey was led by Sean Randall (Fremont, Calif.) who notched two kills and chipped in a tie for the match-high in digs (6). Setter Melivin Morales (Chelsea, Mass.) dished out three assists in the loss for the Lynx.

Elms is back in action on Wednesday, February 20 when it hosts Daniel Webster College in NECC action at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
