Castro Named NECC Rookie of the Week in Men's Volleyball
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Elms College freshman men's volleyball player Angel Castro (Carolina, Puerto Rico) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
Castro earned his first collegiate weekly honor after helping the Blazers to a 2-1 finish at the season-opening SUNY Institute of Technology Tournament in Utica, N.Y. Casto averaged 1.46 kills and 3.23 digs per set with a .304 hitting percentage. In a four set victory over Lancaster Bible College, the freshman middle hitter recorded seven kills with just one error and added 12 digs and three blocks to help Elms close out weekend action with a win.
