Men's Volleyball Sweeps Southern Vermont

CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 16, 2009 - Elms College freshman middle hitter Harry Sebastian (San Juan, Puerto Rico) recorded a match-high seven kills and freshman setter Jesus Echevarria (San Juan, Puerto Rico) handed out a collegiate career-high 31 assists to send the Blazers to a 3-0 (30-5, 30-7, 30-7) win over Southern Vermont College in Monday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division men's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.

Elms College (7-7 overall, 5-2 NECVA) extended its win streak to five straight, while Southern Vermont remained winless at 0-7, 0-7 NECVA.

Sophomore outside hitter Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) scored six kills, freshman outside hitter Sequiel Sanchez (San Sebastian, Puerto Rico) nailed down five kills and added a match-high five aces, while freshman outside hitter Mike Kleckner (Freedom, PA) knocked down four kills and recorded a match-high six digs in the victory.

For the match, Elms College hit .492 (37-8-59), including .526 (12-2-19) in the second set.

Sophomore outside hitter Aaron Eschler (Gloversville, NY) registered three kills for the Mountaineers in the loss.

Elms College returns to action at the Vassar Invitational on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21.
