MEN'S VOLLEYBALL STOPPED BY MIT, 3-0

NEW PALTZ, NY, Jan. 17, 2009 - Elms College senior outside hitter Marc Carrasco (Tucson, AZ) knocked down a team-high 14 kills, but the Blazers fell 3-0 to MIT in the second day of the men's volleyball Hawks Tournament hosted by New Paltz.

Elms College (0-3) was winless at the tournament following Friday evening losses to Eastern Mennonite, Emmanuel, and Saturday's loss to MIT.

MIT, which had lost 3-2 to both Division I Sacred Heart and host New Paltz on Friday night, improved to 1-2.

Sophomore outside hitter Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) registered 11 kills against the Engineers and finished with a combined 40 in three matches at the tournament, while sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 32 assists.

The Blazers return to non-conference play with a match at Mount Ida on Monday, January 19. First serve is 7:00 p.m.
