Men's Volleyball Soars Over Mount Ida, 3-0

ELMS COLLEGE SOARS OVER MOUNT IDA, 3-0

NEWTON, MA, Jan. 19, 2009 - Elms College junior setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out a match-high 44 assists and sophomore outside hitter Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added 13 kills and a pair of blocks to lead the Blazers to an easy 3-0 (30-17, 30-18, 30-13) win over Mount Ida College in Monday night's non-conference men's volleyball match at the Mount Ida Athletic Center.

The Blazers improved to 1-3 overall, while Mount Ida (0-1) dropped its 2009 season opener.

In the second set, the score was tied 10-10 before the Blazers used runs of 8-1 and 13-4 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Mount Ida led 3-2 early in the third set before the Blazers answered with an 18-8 run to build a commanding 20-10 lead en route to the easy third set victory.

Senior outside hitter Marc Carrasco (Safford, AZ) added 10 kills for the Blazers, who host Lesley University in their home and North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division opener on Tuesday, January 20. Match time is 7:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
