Blazers Competed at the GNAC Championships

Wellesley, MA – The Elms College swim team competed at the GNAC Championship meet.

THE BASICS:

2. Elms College Men's Team 6th

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms College competed at the GNAC conference championship at the Boston Sports Institute. The Blazers started off strong in the 100-yard freestyle with Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, ME). Cronkhite finished in 15th in the prelims and held 15th place in finals while making a NEISDA A-cut. Cronkhite also placed in the top 20 for the 200 and 50-yard freestyle both with NEISDA B-cuts.

Senior Nick Taylor (Turners Falls, MA) had a very strong showing in the 100 and 50-yard butterfly placing in the top 10 while improving his A-cut seed time for NEISDAs. Dring the 50-yard butterfly Taylor got a personal best while out touching an opponent for 9th place.  He also swam the 50-yard freestyle placing 11th overall.

Senior Hope Daley (Merrimack, N.H.) had a great showing in the 200 and 50-yard breaststroke placing in the top 20 in both finals. Daley also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke finishing in 24th place. During the 200-yard breaststroke, Daley was neck and neck with an opponent until the last 25 yards of the race. During the last 25 Daley blazed past her opponent securing an 18th place finish.

"It is great to compete at the GNAC Championships. We swam fast and achieved our goals. It was a long three days and we gave it our all. I am very proud of the swimmers and I am looking forward to our last two meets. Go Blazers!"

UP NEXT:
- The Blazers are traveling to UNE to compete in a conference meet on Saturday 2/12, for a 12 PM start.
