Men’s And Women’s Swimming Compete In Day Two Action Of NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, V.T. – The Elms College
men’s and women’s swim teams finished Saturday’s
preliminaries at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and
Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships in White River Junction,
V.T.
For the women, the 200-yard medley team of sophomore
Ashley Arbo (Kensington, Conn.), freshman
Tessa Dudunake (Northampton, Mass.), freshman
Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) and freshman
Chalis Bird (Windsor, Mass.) clocked a season-best
time of 1:58.70 to finish sixth and advance to this evening’s
championship finals.
Furtek swam a season-best 29.35 in the 50-yard butterfly to finish
13th and earn a spot in the consolation finals, while Arbo
registered a lifetime-best 1:03.99 in the 100-yard backstroke to
finish seventh and earn a spot in the consolation finals of the
event.
On the men’s side, the 200-yard medley relay team of senior
Jason DiMauro (New Hartford, Conn.), sophomore
Garrett Brune (Lakeville, Mass.), sophomore
Zach LeBarron (Bennington, V.T.) and junior
Adam Tonnesen (Norwich, Conn.) set a new school
record with a time of 1:45.39 to finish sixth and punch their
ticket to tonight’s championship finals.
LeBarron also set a new school mark in the 50-yard butterfly with
a time of 24.90 which earned him sixth place honors and a berth in
the championship finals.
DiMauro finished 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:06.61
and will compete in the consolation finals of the event.
