HOW IT HAPPENED

Back at home, the Blazers were prepared for a hard battle against the visiting Monks. Saint Joseph's College wasted no time getting on the board within the first seven minutes of the match. Forward Gus Ford collected a misplaced pass by the Blazers and fired a right footed goal past Collin Liedke (Newington, CT) boosting them to a 1-0 lead early. The Blazers did not let up on their offensive end and matched the Monk's aggressiveness. Keeping the intensity up Ferrer jumped to a 50/50 ball in the Monks' defensive end causing their goalkeeper, Liam Foley to creep outside the box. Causing this defensive shift allowed Ferrer to chip the ball perfectly over Foley, closing the difference in the 37th minute, Blazers tied up the score 1-1 heading into the half.

With the game tied up at 1's the Blazers knew they needed to keep the ball in their offensive possession. Both teams never stopped showing grit as they battled hard for every touch. Monks' Nate Sottack found his opportunity to score when a scrum in front of the Blazers goal granted the forward with the goal. With 20 minutes left of play the Blazers did not let up and battled till the clock ran to zero. Monks would secure the conference win, 2-1 for the final score.
