How it Happened

Back at home, the Blazers were hoping to come out of the game with some points to stay in playoff contention. This felt like a critical game early. Elms played like it, as ten minutes into the game, they took 1-0 lead off a goal from Cardeal, hoping to set the tone themselves, and take control of the game. Elms kept the pressure on throughout the first part of the first half, taking shots on Lasell's net, and keeping the Lasers defense on their heels. Towards the end of the first half, Lasell seemed to settle in, and Daniel Faynstein evened the game at 1-1 with a Lasers goal right before half. Faynstein almost made it 2-1 in a matter of minutes, but Colin Liedke came up with a big save right before halftime to keep the game at 1-1 heading into the break.

After half, the Blazers continued to put pressure on the Lasers defense, making the goalie work a little extra, and hoping to put a second goal past him. A costly foul by Joe Chartier (Palmer, MA) set Lasell up for a penalty kick, and Jaydon Perez found the back of the net, giving the Lasers a 2-1 lead. Chartier more than made up for the foul when he assisted Ferrer less than four minutes later on a goal, knotting the game at 2-2. Lasell's Faynstein had another late opportunity to put Lasell ahead, but another late Liedke save kept the game at 2-2 for the Blazers, earning them a point from the tie.
