Blazers Fall to Blue Jays

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College men's soccer team dropped their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) appearance against the University of St. Joseph CT. Saturday evening 3-1.

THE BASICS:

SCORE: USJ 3 | Elms 1
RECORDS: USJ (5-1-1, 3-1-0 GNAC) | Elms (3-5-0, 2-4-0 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Blazers got on the board in the first ten minutes as Justin Szwajkowski (Westhampton, MA) found the back of the net from Pedro Duarte (Chicopee, MA) to put the home team on top, 1-0.

The visiting Blue Jays countered with three unanswered goals from three different players for the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Devon Polletta, Musa Jiana, and Michael Lemke all saw multiple shots for Elms

- Collin Liedke had 11 saves for the match

FROM THE DESK OF COACH WYSOCKI:

"Another unfortunate result, for sure, but there are a lot of positives to take away. It always hurts when you score first in a match but end up on the losing side, so we need to make some changes to deal with that. It's not enough for this group to walk away from a match and say, "Yeah... but we played well." It's a difficult league, where you need to be switched on for 90 minutes. You can't afford to take plays off.  But I'm happy with the effort. We battled, as we always do. It's in our DNA to be strong, tough and ready to fight for everything on the pitch. We never back down to an opponent and we never will. I'm proud of the fight the team showed."

UP NEXT:

- The Blazers will host another GNAC opponent, Colby-Sawyer College, on Wednesday 9/29 for a 7:00pm start.
