Men's Lacrosse Falls to Wildcats in a Close Division Game

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Men's Lacrosse team hosted Johnson & Wales University in conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Leary Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers would fire a couple early shots on Johnson & Wales and broke through when sophomore Tosh Marshall (Sylvan Lake, AB, Canada) scored for Elms off of an assist by first-year Cam Gillis (Feeding Hills, MA). The Wildcats would respond by scoring two straight goals in the first period, and added three more in the ensuing period to take a 5-1 lead. Sophomore Connor Tobin (Northampton, MA), first-years Miah Rondon, and Luciano Jordan Canino (Dalton, MA) scored for Elms to close the gap. Elms continued to take control, and Marshall scored again to tie the game. However, the Wildcats scored a quick goal before halftime, regaining the lead. Johnson & Wales would score two more goals in the third period to take an 8-5 lead into the fourth, and extended their lead to 10-5 with a couple of early goals. Tobin assisted Rondon for his second goal late in the period, but Elms couldn't get any closer, falling 10-6 to the Wildcats.

  • Tobin: one goal scored, an assist, three ground balls, and six shots on goal

  • Rondon: two goals scored and seven shots on goal.

  • Junior Devin Murphy (Walden, NY): six caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • First-year goalkeeper Casey Dmochowski (Rutland, MA): 16 saves with 26 shots faced.

UP NEXT: The Blazers will be in action on Saturday, April 13 in a conference matchup at home against the University of Saint Joseph (CT) at 3:30 P.M.
